Tomato beer has long been a source of emotional debate at our brewery, and until now those discussions had never convincingly concluded that we should actually brew one ourselves. So when our friends from BeerGeek asked us to make a tomato beer especially for them, it felt like a gift from Žižkov and Karlín. And apparently they wanted basil in it too! The result is slightly salty, slightly sweet, distinctly tomato-forward and packed with umami, with basil providing its obligatory – and excellent – aromatic counterpart. Just as unusual as it sounds, yet surprisingly easy to drink. And if your first thought is that it could use some heat, feel free to reach into the cupboard for your favourite chilli sauce.
